Box Rating System

It is important that our description of the box and contents are understood to our customers. Mostly, this rating system is subjective. We try to honestly identify the defects on the box. The rating system we use is as follows:

MINT - There is no visible defect on the box and the box shows a luster similar to NEW condition.

NEAR MINT - Any scratches, scuffs, nicks, tears, dents or creases are minor and do not detract from the overall quality of the box. There may be some loss of original luster due to minor shelf wear.

EXCELLENT - The scratches, scuffs, nicks, tears, dents or creases are somewhat more pronounced, if present. However, they still do not detract significantly from the box. There may also be more significant damage, but the damage located in a position where it would not show up when displayed in the box (such as on the back or bottom).

VERY GOOD - There is an increased degree and quantity of scratches, scuffs, nicks, tears, dents or creases. The damage is visible during display.

GOOD - Damage generally will include scratches, scuffs, nicks, tears, dents or creases and shelf wear. These will be very noticeable and significant. The box is intact, and not broken down. This box would be okay in a box collection unless you are looking only for the highest quality.

FAIR - The box is breaking down. The seals may be coming loose. A high degree of wear, creases, possibly tears. For older boxes, these would still be suitable for box collections, but newer or more common items would be more suitable for deboxers.

POOR - The box is well worn, lots of creasing and possible tears. Box is possibly pushed in and will not hold shape well. Plastic is possibly cracked. In addition, there is the potential that the box has been opened. Most suitable for deboxers or boxers only for those hard-to-find items.

SOME COMMONLY USED ABBREVIATIONS:

MIB = Mint In Box
An item that has been opened, perhaps displayed and then replaced in it's packaging.

MNB = Mint No Box
An item in perfect condition, except it is missing it's packaging.

NRFB = Never Removed From Box
Those items that have never been opened, basically in the same condition it left the factory.
